Dual-galvanometer (shortened to galvo) lasers use two precision mirror galvanometers to direct the beam at any angle within the marking window of the laser. This means, the laser beam is quickly moved by the reflection of small mirrors inside the laser module, instead of moving by the whole laser module's movement, which can increase the speed by 10 times. Galvo is often used in industrial batch processing.
xTool F1 has both 10W 455nm blue/diode laser and 2W 1064nm infrared laser to engrave Almost ALL common materials in daily life. Diode lasers perform best on wood, acrylic, leather, slate, glass, ceramic, etc., while infrared lasers can engrave clearly on all-metals(stainless steel, aluminum, gold, silver, iron, platinum) and plastic.
Notice that, it only emits diode laser or infrared laser SOLELY (not at the same time) each time. Set or switch the laser source inside FREE xTool creative Space software.
The 10w diode laser cuts 8 mm basswood and 6 mm black acrylic.

The speed of F1 can reach 4000mm/s, which is 10 times the speed of the D1 pro/M1. Fast speed can satisfy several needs:

Size:
Portable as F1: It has a weight of 4.6kg, and a size of 179mm*235mm*334mm. With a durable metal handle, it can be easily carried anywhere. You can even remove the plate and do vertical engraving with xTool F1.
On the other hand, D1 pro and M1 are larger and heavier, and are designed to be a home or workspace laser.
Laser Sources:
F1 has both 10W diode laser and 2W infrared laser to engrave 300+ materials.
D1 pro has 5 to 40W diode lasers (process on wood, acrylic, leather, glass,etc), with a separate laser module accesorry of D1, for engraving on all-metals and acrylic.
M1 has a 10W diode.
Laser Working Area:
D1 pro has the are of 430*348mm and M1 has 385*300mm, F1 has comparatively smaller working area which is 115*115mm rounded rectangle. However, adding the slide extension of F1, the area can be enlarged to 115*400mm.

I love my M1 but wanted more options for metal etching on memorial jewellery I make. I had been deliberating between the F1 and F1U for a few months but budget and space for the machine were big considerations and I decided on the F1. I am still learning on it but so far I love it and am very happy that I made the right choice for my needs. xTool service was excellent as ever with the machine delivered within 3 days and as always packaged beautifully.
I have been using the Stool F1 for almost a year now. it is incredibly easy to set up and use and I have found the software fairly straight forward. There have bee a couple of updates to the software but the help and guidance that is available from other users online has always been amazing. I am just starting to really integrate the machine into my workflow as I missed the Christmas rush with it last year. This year I will be able to offer personalisation while people wait. I have already had good feedback. I am working my way up to purchasing the F1 Ultra as I know that alongside my P2 and F1 will allow me endless possibilities for expanding my small business.
The xTool F1 works very nicely for engraving onto anodised aluminium and wood, with clear results. The resolution and speed are both very good. The XCS software also works well with the device, though it takes a little getting used to and is perhaps not quite as versatile for editing as some other general purpose graphics software. But it is sufficient for my purposes.
I spent hours and hours on the page for this deliberating on whether to buy it. I have a relatively good 400 x 400, 40w diode laser already but wanted something small and portable. This is quite a lot of money compared to some but not without good reason.
I've had it for a few weeks now. I haven't tried cutting plywood on it yet as the big machine copes with that and I need to bigger build area. I've used this for a lot of engraving on slate, PU leather, stainless steel, wooden key rings and anodised aluminium business cards.
It does all of these brilliantly. Particularly photos on slate coasters. I was using Photoshop or ImagR to edit the photos and then wasting many slates getting all the settings dialled in on the laser. Almost from the first try, editing in XCS and engraving was spot on. I think I could probably get away with doing everything in XCS now.
And the speed! Between about 8 and 20 minutes for a photo on a 10cm x 10cm slate coaster. I can't remember exactly what it is on my other machine but it's probably closer to an hour.
I love this little laser so much that I'm seriously considering getting rid of the big laser to replace it with an S1.
Only had a few days and still getting to grips with it, however it’s a brilliant machine and doesn’t take up much space, looking forward to becoming more competent with the settings
